What are Nameservers?

Nameservers are routing or pointer identifiers of a domain name that is registered through a domain registrar company. They look something like this for example:

  • ns1.domain.com (primary nameserver), IP (primary IP)
  • ns2.domain.com (secondary nameserver), IP (secondary IP)

These nameservers point a domain name to a web hosting company that has a web hosting account setup for the customer. Each web hosting company has a set of nameservers that are setup and configured within their server.

Changing Nameserver Settings at the Domain Registrar Company

If Light Touch Technologies is hosting your website using your reserved domain name, you need to go to your domain registrar's website and login. You then would locate where the NS or Nameserver option that is for your domain name.

By default, when you first reserve a domain name, the nameservers for the domain name are setup using the domain registrar's nameservers. You would need to replace those nameservers with the nameservers of Light Touch Technologies. This would route your domain name to our web hosting server where your web hosting account is setup.
